Lip filler - FAQ

  • A) Lip filler is an injectable treatment that is used to augment the volume and/or shape of the lips.

  • A) Yes. In fact, the goal with treatment is to enhance the lips subtly so as to improve the projection without overfilling. The most we do in one sitting is 1ml of lip filler which is approximately 1/5th of a teaspoon of volume. We try to discourage over-filling lips as this can lead to unwanted side-effects and an unnatural appearance.


  • Hyaluronic based lip fillers like Juvederm and Belotero work by restoring volume in the lip directly as well as stimulating collagen and elastin synthesis in the lips. It also works to draw in water which helps to hydrate the lip over time.


  • A) The effects from lip filler treatment typically last 12 to 18 months.

  • A) Before the procedure an anaesthetic cream is applied to the lips which does a great job at temporarily numbing the area. This combined with a careful technique from your aesthetic doctor usually makes treatment almost pain free.
