Treatment of Excessive sweating (Hyperhidrosis)

Q) What is hyperhidrosis?

A) Hyperhidrosis is the medical term used to describe excessive sweating. Typically this can cause discomfort, and in some cases, it can affect overall quality of life. It is most often bothersome when effecting the under-arm area (axilla) and the hands.

Q) What does treatment involve?

A) During treatment, your doctor will apply a strong anaesthetic cream to the under-arm area. After sufficient time has passed to allow for effective numbing and disinfection, Botulinum Toxin A (Anti-Wrinkle Injections) is used in multiple spots under the arm on both sides.

Q) How long does it last?

A) Anti-wrinkle injectable treatment typically starts to work on day 5 when injected under the arms. The effects tend to last longer in this area than other areas and typically last between 6-9 months.

Q) Does it hurt and is there much downtime?

A) As the needles are very small, the vast majority of patients receiving Anti-Wrinkle Injections are pleasantly surprised at how quick and relatively pain-free treatment is. Normal activities can be resumed straight after treatment with usually little to no swelling or bruising.
