Platelet-Rich Plasma - FAQ

  • A) Platelet-Rich Plasma is a treatment that involves the collection of a small blood sample from you. This sample is placed in a machine called a centrifuge, which spins at high speeds to allow the plasma portion of the sample to be isolated. This plasma portion is rich in growth factors which stimulates collagen and elastin synthesis. This is then injected into your skin to stimulate new collagen production.

  • A) Vampire facials have become increasingly popular over the last few years. It is the combination of Platelet-Rich Plasma and Medical Microneedling in the same treatment used in tandem to enhance results of both individual treatments. This treatment is particularly effective for acne scarring though it has a host of other benefits including increasing collagen count, skin texture and skin colour.

  • A) It usually takes 4-6 weeks to see results, however this varies from person to person.

  • A) PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrinogen) is a process where Platelet-Rich Plasma is added to a 3D fibrin mesh. It is rich in growth factors that result in a longer lasting boost in collagen and elastin levels and improved skin texture. It is particularly effective in those with moderate volume loss around the face.

  • A) In general, treatment is very well tolerated. We use a strong anesthetic cream which helps to make the treatment as pain-free as possible.

  • A) It is normal to experience redness (which may look like sunburn) and irritation up to 1 week after the procedure.


  • A) Each session may last between 45 to 60 minutes. Though it varies from person to person, typically 3 to 6 sessions are required to achieve the best outcome.
